<p>We at Upcharge Energy are excited to share with you the latest updates regarding the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) directives concerning the use of generator sets in Delhi NCR. These directives, announced on June 2, 2023, and set to be enforced from October 1, 2023, represent a significant step towards creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment.</p>
<p><strong>Gas Gensets:</strong> Unlike diesel gensets, there are no restrictions on the usage of gas gensets, allowing them to operate throughout the year without any limitations.</p>
<p><strong>Gensets up to 25 KVA:</strong> Small-scale gensets up to 25 KVA face restrictions only during the GRAP period (October 2023 to January 2024), where they are prohibited from operating.</p>
<p><strong>Gensets above 25 KVA up to 3000 KVA:</strong> Larger gensets falling within this range are mandated to be converted to dual fuel systems to comply with the new regulations.</p>
<p><strong>Gensets (25–156 KVA):</strong> With the installation of a dual fuel system, these gensets are permitted to operate year-round. However, during the GRAP period, they are limited to a maximum of two hours of operation per day. Retrofit Emission Control Devices (RECD) are not required for this category.</p>
<p><strong>Gensets (156 KVA to less than 1000 KVA):</strong> To operate during the GRAP period, gensets in this range must be equipped with both a dual fuel system and an RECD. Outside of the GRAP period, they can function for nine months without an RECD.</p>
<p><strong>Gensets above 1000 KVA:</strong> Gensets exceeding 1000 KVA must run exclusively on dual fuel systems. They are permitted unrestricted operation throughout the year, except during the GRAP period when they are limited to two hours of continuous operation.</p>
